Born and raised in Paris, France, Frederic de Claremont was exposed to art early on, by parents who made a habit of bringing him every week to one of the numerous Paris museums. De Claremont still considers the City of Lights the art capital of the world. "Paris is not just a city with many museums; it is a museum-city. Art can be found everywhere, and many artists paint outside, especially in the Spring and Summer. Watching Beaux-Arts students draw portraits in Montmartre, or artists complete plein-air paintings on the Left Bank got me interested, at a very young age, in the creative process."
De Claremont was trained at the University of Paris, where he got his Masters, and later at the University of Utah, where he received his Ph.D. De Claremont also studied art at Arizona State University and at the Scottsdale Artists School. He has exhibited in France and in the United States, and his work may be found in private collections in France, Australia, Hong Kong, Canada, and the United States.
Although influenced by Sandro Chia, Oskar Kokoschka and Nicolas de Stael, Frederic de Claremont's art is unique. "I aspire to capture beauty, emotions, and harmony."
