James VanFossan was encouraged at a young age by his mother, Marjorie, an artist in her own right, to develop, through practice and patience, his artistic abilities by drawing, using pencil as his medium. As a teenager, James continued to create art, doing mainly commissioned drawings. In his late twenties, James decided to seek God and reflect on his life. He returned to his art with greater insight and passion than before.

“I now look at my art and realize that these gifts given to me are to be shared with others. I consider it an honor and a blessing to be able to have my art admired and sought after”.

A recent milestone in his career is the opportunity to study privately under internationally acclaimed artist Duffy Sheridan, who is considered a living master in classical realism.

VanFossan’s art can be found in corporate and private collections. He has received many awards in various shows and in 2006 was awarded the prestigious Phippen Family Award in honor of George Phippen, who was founder and original president of the Cowboy Artists of America.

James lives in Casa Grande, Arizona, where he works full time producing and developing his art.
