Leah Lopez, a native of New Mexico, focused her attention on drawing and painting, from life, at age 23. She studied at art schools in Glendale, CA, Scottsdale, AZ, Santa Fe and Taos, NM with renowned artists Gregg Kreutz, Sherrie McGraw, and David Leffel. Leah has an awe inspired appreciation for many classical artists, old masters, modern masters and for the dedication it takes to follow their great tradition. As a result, when drawing or painting, she approaches every new subject as an opportunity to learn. “Things always change, the arrangement, the model, the light, the appearance of color, and this offers infinite variations for study.” She adds, “It brings me great satisfaction that this beautiful journey doesn’t have a destination and the challenges are endless.”
Leah Lopez is an award winning artist whose paintings have been displayed in various national and international exhibitions including the Salon International, American Women Artists, Allied Artists of America, SAS Best and Brightest, and Miniatures at The Albuquerque Museum. Since 2000, Leah has had the privilege of teaching drawing and painting to students of all ages. She is also proudly represented by galleries across the Southwest.
