French artist Ali Benyahya works from fast rough sketches, a skill he perfected over the last twenty years. “My visual style is uncomplicated. It seeks to reflect the underlying beauty of the subjects which inspire me, the heart of the matter, simple and without pretension.”
Benyahya's studio provides a calm space in which he can spend time and paint freely. His paintings are interpretations of the French countryside, views of field workers, or bountiful vineyards. They try to grasp the essence of nature and life.
Benyahya’s images break through the two dimensional space of the canvas, and refer to different plains of space, both physical and spiritual. Color helps the viewer see the background, mid-ground, and foreground. Benyahya also uses geometric shapes within geometric shapes when he enters the realm of spirituality.
