HUAI TANG
Born into a military family, Huai served in the Chinese Army for 6 years where he learned the necessity of hard work and perseverance. The rigors of military life are reflected in the masculine character of his work and his experience in a variety of occupations and professional pursuits give him a unique perspective and a deep understanding of mankind’s interactive relationship to mother nature.
Huai is primarily a self-taught artist with considerable talent. At an early age, he became famous in the community from his drawings. He majored in Physics in college but never lost his love of fine art and the need to create, even as he pursued a career in industrial design. His abiding interest in painting and his prodigious body of fine work led him to Mian Situ, an award winning artist at the Masters of the American West, who also became his close friend and mentor.
Since moving to the California, Huai has developed an affinity for the American West, due in large part to his experience as a maverick with the discipline of a soldier. He and his wife now live in East Los Angeles where he works full time as an artist.
