Ilene Gienger-Stanfield was born and raised near the Klamath/Modoc Indian reservation in Klamath County, Oregon. The unique light, color, and culture of that western landscape has had a lasting influence on Ilene’s art.

Ilene received her degree in art from Southern Oregon University, and has since studied with various artists. In 1995 she met and studied under renowned figurative painter Harley Brown and credits him with having a profound impact on her approach to painting.

In 1997 Ilene Gienger-Stanfield designed and built her own studio. She created a space large enough to do figurative work from life, and to teach. Whether she is painting a still life, landscape or her favorite, a figurative piece, the natural setting in which she works plays a large part in her art.

Beginning in 1996, Ilene Gienger-Stanfield has participated in numerous group exhibitions, has had seven solo exhibitions and has been accepted into national and international shows, taking a variety of awards. Her works has been featured in local and international publications, most recently The Artist’s Magazine and The Pastel Journal. Ilene is quickly becoming a popular portrait painting instructor with workshops in Oregon and New Mexico. She is a signature member of Women Artists of the West, Northwest Pastel Society, and Pastel Society of America.
